How the math works

We start with the average installed cost for your selected system type (ducted, ductless, or geothermal), then subtract incentives in this order:

  1. Federal §25C tax credit — 30% of project cost, capped at $2,000 per year. Requires sufficient federal tax liability to claim.
  2. HEEHRA rebate — up to $8,000 for households under 80% area median income. Federally funded, state-administered. Stacked on top of §25C in most states.
  3. State + utility rebates — vary by ZIP code, utility provider, and system efficiency rating. We sum the non-income-qualified programs for your state and add income-qualified amounts when applicable.

Numbers are estimates. Stacking rules change frequently — confirm with your installer and utility before signing. For the full breakdown by state, see rebates by state.
